Who has never heard, ” breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Yeah, but why? Many people skip breakfast in the morning. What does a balanced breakfast get us?

Eat well to avoid stalling

Breakfast gets a good breakfast, as long as it is balanced, allows to both fill up with energy before starting the day, and avoid nibbling. It is assumed to account for a quarter of the daily energy intake.

And of course, having a balanced breakfast has an impact on satiety. Indeed, having a proper breakfast will avoid snacking in the middle of the morning.

For example, missing breakfast can lead to fatigue, mid-morning nibbling, and difficulty concentrating and learning because of lack of energy! This is why it is all the more important for the child: going to school on an empty stomach will not benefit him. It is estimated that a child who does not eat breakfast loses an hour and a half a week of learning.

The worst decision about breakfast would be to skip it. But it’s not to take anything.

Balanced breakfast: food that wants us well

It is ideal for including protein and slow sugars in your breakfast. Be careful to avoid an excess of sugar: this will not calm you and will quickly bring the cravings.

To avoid missing a balanced breakfast that will keep you going all morning, choose :

  • a cereal product (cereals, rusks, etc.) or lightly buttered bread, for carbohydrates
  • milk, yoghurt or cheese, rich in calcium and protein
  • a serving of fruit to fill up with vitamins
  • a drink to rehydrate after nighttime (fruit juice combines both the fruit portion and the drink, provided it is a real pressed fruit juice)

Tips: Avoid eating too copiously the night before will open the appetite for the morning! Just like not to sit down at the table immediately at the jump of the bed: it is better to prepare before breakfast to get hungry.

You’re tired of hearing how breakfast is the most important meal of the day? By the way, what are the benefits of breakfast? Why is it important to eat a good breakfast in the morning?

Why are breakfast and lunch are important to our health?

breakfast gives us energy for the day

Breakfast is known to be the most important meal of the day, as it follows a fast period of 8 to 12 hours (night). It must, therefore, be large enough to meet our energy needs from the first part of the day to give us the strength to last until the midday meal.

For example, the absence of breakfast may be due to fatigue or concentration problems, as we shall see in the next section.

It improves concentration and memory

During the night, the level of glucose (sugar) in the Blood Falls, our organs (especially those that can only function with glucose as fuel – example : the brain) then function less well because they do not receive enough energy to be able to function properly, which explains why we lack energy in the morning.

Studies show that children who eat breakfast before school are in better mental shape in the morning: their memory is better, their creativity or even their concentration is better, unlike children who do not eat breakfast which then show more problems of concentration or memorization. (This observation is valid for adults: eating breakfast makes it possible to be more productive in the morning)

Having breakfast can give us the “strength” to attack in the morning – making us able to think clearly, to learn or to work.

it makes eating healthier

Eating breakfast is one of the attitudes toward having a balanced diet. It allows you to have a structured diet with meals taken at regular times.

It is also an opportunity for us to eat foods that are lacking in our diet : I am thinking in particular of fruits, which we tend to consume in insufficient quantities. Breakfast then becomes an easier occasion to eat, and as a result to reach the 5 fruits and vegetables recommended per day.
